Iran wants Israeli rulers tried as war criminals
TEHRAN- The vice president for legal affairs on Wednesday urged active Iranian NGOs to collect signatures so that Israeli rulers can be put on trial as “war criminals”.
“The signatures can be submitted to the International Court of Justice (ICJ),” said Mohammad Dehghan on the sidelines of the cabinet session on December 1.
Referring to the Zionist regime’s war crimes against the oppressed Gazans, Dehghan also said: “Israel has committed all the crimes mentioned in the ICJ. But the court has failed to condemn the leaders of the Zionist regime.”
The vice president blamed the court which evaded responsibility and under the pretext of “lack of money” has refused to condemn the Tel Aviv regime since 2018 when Palestine filed a complaint against the fake regime.
Addressing the ICJ, Dehghan asked the court to condemn the Israeli regime and put an end to Tel Aviv’s war crimes.
It should be noted that the Israeli war crimes, including the complete blockade of the Gaza Strip, the unabated bombardment of the residential areas, the cut order, the use of white phosphorus, and genocide, have raised alarms worldwide.
Protocol III of the 1980 Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons prohibits incendiaries or the use of other substances to attack civilian populations.
He outlined that even if the war in Gaza comes to an end, it is important for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to cooperate and make the Israeli regime pay for its war crimes.
"Palestinians' rights should be pursued," stressed the vice president in the end.
